Crispus Attucks High School was created in 1927 as a result of pressure from the local Ku Klux Klan. Rather than giving into the tragedy of racial inequality, Crispus Attucks High School instead triumphed in bringing both the black and white communities together. Due to its academic and athletic excellence, the school became a point of pride within the city of Indianapolis, influencing equal rights.
“Attucks was a stunningly good school; a school built to fail succeeded beyond anyone’s imagination. It was an absolutely solid school from the start…”
-Ted Green, Crispus Attucks High School Documentary Director, 2016
